RAPID CITY

Rapid City is an update to a quilt in my second book, Modern Patchwork. The original quilt was inspired by the amazing hideout house near Mt. Rushmore in North by Northwest. The blocks include variations on the classic log cabin block set amongst stylized “trees”. My sample quilt is made using precut 10” squares of my Library print collection and Kona Coordinates, and this quilt will look great made from those or any other precut packages of 10” squares. The pattern includes three quilt sizes, all of which have a system with number and letter codes to help you distribute fabrics and colors evenly throughout your project. This fabric guide will help you to place the fabrics in your quilt exactly as I did.

You could also go completely scrappy, arrange your blocks by color, or arrange your blocks at random. Rapid City provides the framework to use your fabrics in lots of different ways! The centers of each of the “cabin” blocks are also a great place for to use fussy-cut prints.

LIBRARY FABRICS

My quilt samples are made with fabrics from my Library print collection, Kona Solids, and Essex Yarn-Dyed Linen in Charcoal for the “trees” and binding. All of these fabrics are available for wholesale order from Robert Kaufman Fabrics as of April 2019. These fabrics are expected to start showing up in stores in May 2020.
